Syllabus Areas:

GS I - History, Geography

The Line of Control (LoC) is the de facto military boundary that separates the areas of the Kashmir region administered by India and Pakistan. It is not an internationally recognized international border, but rather a ceasefire line that emerged after conflict.

Line of Actual Control (LAC)

The Line of Actual Control (LAC) is the de facto military boundary between India and China. It is the line up to which the two countries exercise actual control, but it is not an internationally recognised or mutually demarcated international boundary.
