Delhi Polls - Criminal Cases on MLAs
Only 5 women were elected to the eighth Delhi Assembly, representing 7% of the House. In 2020, 8 women were elected. 4 women MLAs are from BJP , while Atishi is the only woman from AAP .
Educational Qualifications of MLAs
- Graduate degree holders: Increased to 38% from 34% in the previous assembly.
- Postgraduate and above: Unchanged at 26% .
- Class 5 to 12 education: 33% of newly elected MLAs.
Professional Background
- Politics/Social work: 61% (declined from 67% in the previous assembly).
- Business profession: Increased from 29% to 49% .

Criminal Cases Among MLAs
- 31 MLAs (44%) declared criminal cases against themselves (lower than 43 MLAs in 2020 ).
- Serious criminal cases: 17 MLAs (including attempted murder and crimes against women ).

- BJP: 16 MLAs with criminal cases, 7 with serious cases.
- AAP: 15 MLAs with criminal cases, 10 with serious cases.

Growth in Assets of Re-elected MLAs
- 22 re-elected MLAs saw their assets increase by 25% .
- Average asset growth: ₹7.04 crore (2020) → ₹8.83 crore (2025) .
Wealth Distribution of MLAs
- 44% of MLAs have assets over ₹10 crore .
- 3% have assets below ₹20 lakh .
- 3 BJP MLAs have assets between ₹115 crore to ₹259 crore .

Gender Representation
- Decline in women representation: 5 women MLAs (7%) compared to 8 in 2020 .
Criminal Background Trend
- Decline in criminal cases among elected representatives compared to 2020 .
- However, serious criminal cases remain a concern .
